Endodontic treatment
There may come a time in your life when a root canal will be necessary to save a damaged or decayed tooth that is causing you pain due to an infected nerve. Our dentist provide endodontic services, also known as root canal treatment. When the area of the tooth containing the nerves and blood supply becomes damaged or infected, excruciating pain can result. Symptoms of nerve damage or infection that may require endodontics include severe tooth pain, darkening of the tooth, sensitivity to heat and cold, and swelling, tenderness, or recurring pimples on the gums. Sometimes, however, no symptoms appear, yet endodontics may still be essential to maintain the health of the mouth. A tooth that must get a root canal probably already had a very large cavity that had reached the pulp where the nerve is located. After the dentist had properly cleaned the tooth from all decay and that the root canal treatment is completed, there usually doesn’t remain sufficient healthy dental anatomy or material to restore strength back to the tooth. It is then necessary to complete the treatment with a dental crown to ensure that the tooth will not break eventually. Our experienced dentists can advise if endodontics is necessary for you.
